We are a gospel-centered church ministering in East Multnomah County.

Our Story

Gresham Bible Church began with a small group of people who believed that God was bringing them together to further the mission of Jesus in East Multnomah County.

We were encouraged along the way by a wonderful partnership with an area church who provided wise oversight, prayer support, and a lump sum of money to help us get started. It was a perfect match; Cornerstone Church had a vision for planting churches and our founding pastor, Vergil Brown, had a burning passion for church planting. After a few months of prayer and planning, GBC was born on April 8, 2007.

Over the years GBC has grown, impacted many lives, helped plant other churches, and advance the gospel overseas. One of the greatest impacts GBC has had locally is through advocacy in adoption and active participation and support for foster families and children.

In May of 2019, we sent out Vergil Brown and his family to plant a new gospel-centered church in Northeast Portland, named Redemption Church. In June of 2019, we called Josh Howeth as our new lead pastor. Josh and Elizabeth and their children were ministering in Corvallis where they had planted a church named The Branch. Josh began pastoring GBC on October 1, 2019. In mid-2022, Josh and his family moved to Redlands, CA for Josh to become Lead Pastor of Pathway Church. Mike Dahl became the Acting Lead Pastor at that time and was then installed as Gresham Bible Church’s Lead Pastor in April of 2023.
