Thomas is originally from the Deep South growing up in southeast Louisiana and Mississippi. After studying music in college, he began to feel burdened for the former Soviet Union. After taking several short trips to Ukraine and Russia, he began studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi where he met his wife Cristy. They were married in 2003 and served in a local church doing youth and music. They joined InterAct Ministries, a mission organization working in Russia, and began making plans to move to the mission field. In 2007 they moved to St. Petersburg, Russia with their one-year-old son Isaiah. While in Russia they worked with indigenous churches throughout the country to do evangelism and discipleship. In 2010 their second child Nadia was born.

In 2011 they faced the difficult decision to return to the States in order to better care for Isaiah who has special needs. After about 10 months in Mississippi they felt called to move up to Oregon for Thomas to serve out of InterAct’s U.S. office as Communications Director. They visited Gresham Bible Church and just kept coming back. Their third child, Lily, joined them in 2015.

While they’ve adapted to life in the Pacific Northwest and love the beauty of Oregon, they still bring a little bit of the South with them wherever they go. They still insist on saying “y’all,” and if you get invited to their house you’re likely to enjoy some Gumbo, grits or maybe even turnip greens flavored with some Slap Ya’ Mama seasoning.

Thomas enjoys music, running, cooking and loves building and tinkering with things. He also loves studying God’s amazing universe. One of his favorite quotes is by Puritan John Owen, “Think greatly of the greatness of God.” As an aspiring science nerd, he’ll rarely pass up the opportunity to watch a good documentary on quantum entanglement or black holes, even though he doesn’t understand it all.

Above all, Thomas loves the Lord and is passionate to see people discipled and following Him. Some of the books that have impacted him the most in his walk with the Lord are Knowing God by J.I. Packer, Spiritual Disciplines for The Christian Life by Don Whitney, and Let the Nations Be Glad by John Piper.
